Sierra Blanca ,Texas

Awoke to calls of roosters, in this throwback to Old West. Saddles and hitching posts at doors of our rooms,thick plaster walls and woven rug on wall. We had Smores over the fire pit last night.

My posts have been delayed by lack of wifi in this part of the country.Sometimes it provides more time to think. Beautiful eastward cycling days have continued ,though sometimes marred by high winds, threatening dogs, high heat , “ coal-rolling” trucks ( emit black soot at cyclists).

The vistas are gorgeous and people encountered are genuine and friendly. Nine days more planned on route traversing the vast state of Texas. We'll cross to Central timezone at end of today's ride in Van Horn.
